Former striker names team to finish above Arsenal in top six battle - and it is not Man United

Leicester City have been named as the team that Arsenal need to watch out for next season.

That's the verdict of former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison, who has claimed that the Foxes will finish above the Gunners next season.

Arsenal are facing a third season without Champions League football after finishing in fifth place in the Premier League last season, while they also lost out 4-1 against Chelsea in the Europa League final.

As a result, the Gunners have limited funds available to strengthen the squad this summer, and face another battle to finish in the top four in the Premier League next season, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and the Gunners all looking to try and close the gap on the top two, Liverpool and champions Manchester City.

But Morrison has claimed that it is not just their familiar top six rivals that the Gunners need to be wary of, with the Premier League champions of 2015/16 strengthening this summer by signing Spanish forward Ayoze Perez and Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans.

“The team to watch out for this year, who I think will finish above Arsenal, is Leicester. I know Arsenal fans will be hammering me now, but that’s my honest opinion. I think Leicester have done great business, they have brought in some great players," Morrison said, speaking on Talksport.

“They might lose Harry Maguire to Manchester United for £80m, but that’s a lot of money and they can buy replacements. But I think they will have a really good season.

“I think Leicester will finish above Arsenal."

Morrison also said that he feels Arsenal have "no chance" of signing Wilfried Zaha from his old club Crystal Palace this summer, with the Gunners failing with an initial bid of £40million for the Ivory Coast international.

And he has predicted further disappointment for Arsenal in the transfer market this summer, in contrast to the business done by Leicester City and their manager Brendan Rodgers.

“Arsenal need to spend, and Arsenal fans are all disappointed with what has gone on. Everyone knows where they need to spend, and if they don’t, they will struggle," said Morrison.

“They have got terrific players now, but they need to strengthen defensively, and I think Leicester have strengthened really well.”
