Former striker fires a warning to Crystal Palace fans ahead of Tottenham clash

Neil Shipperley believes Crystal Palace fans should not get carried away, despite a fine start to the new season.

The Eagles currently sit fourth in the Premier League table with seven points from four games, after beating Manchester United and Aston Villa in their last two matches before the international break.

But ahead of the return of the Premier League this weekend, with a trip to face Tottenham in north London, the former Palace striker had a warning for any Eagles fan looking ahead to a possibl challenge for a European place this season.

“There’s dreams and there’s being silly,” he said, speaking to Love Sport Radio .

“We have got to be realistic. I just feel we all thought that we didn’t sign many players and it was all doom and gloom, and then we go and get points where we don’t normally get points; that sums it up.

“Any Palace fan won’t be surprised, this is how Palace work – we go and win when we shouldn’t win and we lose when we should win.”

Palace are, however, already four points better off than they were at the same stage last season, when the Eagle went on to finish in 12 place with a record points tally of 48 points in a 38-game Premier League campaign.
