Former Strictly star Brendan Cole living in tent in Spain with wife and two kids

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has revealed he is living in a rent with his wife and two children in Spain.

The 47-year-old left the show in 2018 amid rumours of a bust-up with long-standing judge Shirley Ballas. Brendan joked about leaving the UK, saying he and his wife made the surprise decision while "drinking gin".

However, the couple, who share daughter Aurelia and son Dante, are waiting on their home in Mallorca to be refurbished and after a series of mishaps, they ended up living in a bell tent.

Brendan has bought multiple properties over the years but despite a desire to renovate them, he has "never gotten around to it," until now. He and his family have adapted to the adventurous lifestyle but Brendan is concerned about the heat, he told The Sun.

"Because we're doing the renovation we actually can't live in the house so the plan is to actually be in a glamping tent on the property which is quite nice although if it gets too hot, which I fear it might be, we may well just come back," he told the paper.

Brendan blamed "gin madness" for encouraging him and wife Zoe to ditch their life in the UK and take the bell tent over to Mallorca with them after they lost out on a rental property last minute.

"The day before we were getting the flat, we got a phone call saying it had been rented to somebody else for a longer time, so we had to get the bell tent out early and we put it up!" the New Zealand dancer laughed.

Brendan met Zoe in 2008 before they tied the knot two years later with daughter Aurelia arriving in 2012 and son Dante six years later.

After quitting Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, the former pro dismissed rumours of a feud with head judge Shirley, and blamed TV bosses for getting rid of him.

"The executives make these decisions on these shows, and I would if it was my show," he told Lorraine, as he hinted it was his stubbornness that could've contributed to his departure.

"I question things if I believe they're wrong. I do that quite often as you've seen throughout the series of Strictly," Brendan added.
