Former Strictly Come Dancing stars pour cold water on Rose and Giovanni's Frozen dance

The quickstep performed by Strictly favourites Rose Ayling-Ellis and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice was not a winner for former professional dancers James and Ola Jordan.

The Jordans regularly comment on the BBC Strictly Come Dancing show and rarely pull their punches.

James told Hello! magazine that expectations were "extremely high" prompting Ola, on Strictly from 2006 to 2015 to say Saturday's performance was "a little average for them."

James, who was in Strictly from 2006 to 2013 said he didn't think it was their best performance, adding: "I'm only being so critical because we've seen final standard dances from them already".

Ayling-Ellis performed a quickstep to Love Is An Open Door from Disney's Frozen, guest judge Cynthia Erivo signed a message to her and said: "I think you're joyful, beautiful.

"That was so much fun to watch and you managed to get all the characterisation and the mood and the feeling all in one. It was gorgeous."

There was lots of love for Rose and Giovanni as twitter users hit back at the Jordans.

Rob said: "Not sure what else you wanted Rose and Gio to do in that Quickstep. They could hardly throw cartwheels and lifts in there!"

Sandra Halford said: "Rose was amazing as usual and defo my winner."

A source told The Mail On Sunday: "Rose is a star and is exactly what the BBC need. The nation has fallen in love with her.

"Everything about her is so charming and lovely.

"She has won a fan base of millions of people in the matter of a few weeks."

Rose and Giovanni scored 37 last Saturday, making them third on the leaderboard behind Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin top and AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington in second. Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden were eliminated after the dance off.
