Strictly Come Dancing's Len Goodman reveals what he hated about show

Len Goodman has confessed what he used to hate about being on Strictly Come Dancing , three years after he left the BBC series.

After joining as an original judge on the series, Len stepped down in 2016 and was replaced by current judge Shirley Ballas.

Now, his co-star Darcey Bussell has quit, with dancer Motsi Mabuse joining the panel - while her sister Oti is a professional dancer on the series.

Speaking about the panel shake-up, and discussing his time on the show, Len revealed his thoughts on the launch that aired last weekend.

Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, he confessed there was one thing in particular that he wasn't a fan of.

The launch episode sees each celebrity paired up with a professional dancer for the series, while the judges get to see the partnerships for the first time.

Len said: "I hated that week that we just had, when they join up, 'cos three or four of them will go up to Claudia, and then Tess will come to you and say, 'Oh, what do you think of those combinations?'

"I wanted to say, how do I know? They’ve not danced or anything yet!

"But, you know, you have to say, 'well they look as though they've got good chemistry' or whatever."

He also gave his thoughts on newcomer Motsi, and whether she will be able to judge her sister Oti fairly.

Len commented: "I dunno, she seemed alright doesn't she."

On her link to Oti, he added: "I dunno whether they'd do something when that occurs. I can imagine it's awkward if you've got to judge a relative, you're damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

"If you're overly nice it's, 'of course, she's your sister' and if you're overly nasty it's 'she's gotta do that cos she's her sister'. It's difficult to give a true critique maybe, but I’m sure she'll be able to do it."

This Morning airs weekdays and Sundays at 10:30am on ITV.
