Former Steeler Donte Moncrief claimed by Carolina Panthers

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Donte Moncrief wasn’t out of work for long. The veteran wide receiver was released by Pittsburgh on November 2 but according to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter was claimed by the Carolina Panthers.

Moncrief was signed by the Steelers in the offseason to offer some stability and reliability in the wake of Antonio Brown being traded. Unfortunately, none of that transpired and Moncrief found himself on the outside looking in thanks to drops and a finger injury. By releasing Moncrief, Pittsburgh helps assure they will receive a third-round compensatory pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

With Moncrief gone, you’ve already seen the Steelers turn to James Washington more in the passing offense. Last week against the Indianapolis Colts, Washington had four receptions for 69 receiving yards.
