Former Steeler DeAngelo Williams throws shade at WR Ryan Switzer

On Tuesday, a question was raised on Twitter about the importance of special teams for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And for some reason, former Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams decided to chime in and take a hard shot at Pittsburgh wide receiver Ryan Switzer.

Williams even raised the question of whether or not the Steelers should release Switzer, but the worst part was once everyone realized he shouldn’t have said it, Williams decided to backpedal and it just makes him look worse.

Even Cam Heyward got involved and Williams tried to play off what was clearly a shot at Switzer, despite the fact they’ve trained together.

We’ve been one of the strongest defenders of Williams and his outspoken style, but this doesn’t feel like that. At times, he seems to be intentionally obtuse on Twitter and then acts like it’s no big deal – just an attempt to draw attention to himself. I hope this wasn’t the case, but no matter how many times he says his comments were no big deal, the optics on this aren’t great.
