Former Steeler calls Mike Tomlin the best leader he ever had

“Leadership” has been the buzzword of the offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Whether it is quarterback Ben Roethlisberger or head coach Mike Tomlin, the ability of the leaders on this team to, well, lead has come under fire. But after enduring all the criticism from guys who haven’t really been a part of the team, it’s great to hear from a former Steeler who acknowledges the leadership skills of Tomlin.

In a recent interview, Ryan Harris talked about his time with the Steelers and what Tomlin was like as a leader.

“He was the best leader I ever had as a head coach,” Harris said. “It was the most competitive team locker room I played in. Tomlin had unbelievable talent at every position and created a competitive mentality in every player.”

Harris only spent one season with Pittsburgh. He initially signed a two-year contract but ended up on IR in October with a shin injury that eventually pushed him to retirement.
