Former Starbucks site in Bristol to reopen as independent bakery and coffee bar

A new independent micro bakery, speciality coffee bar and creative space is opening in Bristol city centre.

Dareshack plans to bring "art, community and culture" to the unit formerly home to Starbucks in Wine Street.

The space will collaborate with local artists to bring art exhibitions and interactive audiovisual installations, alongside a programme of talks and workshops.

The micro bakery will be serving sourdough, pastries and cakes baked by the in-house team headed up by pastry chef Daisy Mullins, who used to work for The Bristol Loaf.

Over lockdown Dareshack operated as a delivery service and built up a keen following for its incredible cinnamon buns, which will also feature on the menu.

The bakery's indulgent treats can be washed down with an exclusive blend of coffee from Triple Co Roast in Stokes Croft, which supplies its beans to many of the city's top cafés and restaurants.

Head barista Mike Jordan, who has worked at 640East and Bath Coffee Company, joins the Dareshack team with years of experience in the coffee industry, both in the UK and internationally.

Owners Adda and Gui have an extensive background in media and entertainment as well as the arts, festivals and running hospitality venues.

After owning the now-closed Sampa Coffee, which was once listed in the London Coffee Guide as one of the best coffee bars in the capital, they are excited to make their mark in Bristol.

"Dareshack is rooted in the belief that hospitality and entertainment can connect people, evoke feelings and spark change," said Adda.

"Although the entertainment side of the concept and studio space has been temporarily paused due to Covid-19, we are extremely excited to open the doors and offer a space to experience art, connect with like-minded people and get inspired, while enjoying a hell of a good cup of coffee and handmade baked goods."

Dareshack open on Wednesday, October 7
