Former St Mirren fan favourite Vaclav Hladky set for Salford City move

Vaclav Hladky is set to seal a deal with ambitious English League Two side Salford City.

The Czech goalkeeper was a star performer at St Mirren for two seasons, becoming a fan favourite in the process.

He broke Buddies hearts when he announced he would leave the club over the summer, and now the free agent is closing in on a move to Manchester side Salford City.

According to Czech media site iSport.cz, the 29-year-old will soon sign on the dotted line for the club co-owned by former Manchester United greats David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and brothers Gary and Phil Neville.

The talented shot stopper had been linked with moves to Celtic and Rangers, but was always clear during his time at St Mirren that he wanted to try and make an impact in England.

Since turning full-time, Salford have been promoted four times in the last six seasons and are currently managed by former Scotland international Graham Alexander.
