Former Spurs star fires warning to Arsenal as he names the 'ideal appointment' for the Gunners

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent believes Arsenal should not take a risk in their hunt for a new manager, identifying the experienced Carlo Ancelotti as the ideal appointment.

The Gunners are on the hunt for a new boss, following the decision to axe Unai Emery last week.

Sat in mid-table in the Premier League and without a win in any competition in eight matches, the pressure upon the club is rising and making the right call is vital.

While the likes of Mikel Arteta and Freddie Ljungberg have been linked with the job on a permanent basis, Bent believes a more experienced candidate would be the better fit.

Ljungberg knows confidence is key to improving Arsenal’s fortunes

“The one that springs to mind is Ancelotti. It’s not the time for Arsenal to hire a manager to take on a project, it’s not the time for them to get an untested manager who has bright new ideas," he told Football Insider .

“They need someone who is successful, maybe someone who has been around a while has won trophies, so Ancelotti springs to mind.”

Arsenal face a daunting trio of fixtures in the next week, with a Europa League tie against Standard Liege wedged between Premier League matches against West Ham and Manchester City.
