Former Spurs star explains why Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi must be in England's Euro 2020 squad

Darren Bent has urged Gareth Southgate to take Callum Hudson-Odoi to next summer's European Championships.

The Chelsea winger is one of the most exciting players in the Premier League but has been limited in match action due to a long-term injury.

However Hudson-Odoi now seems to be firing on all cylinders with the focus being on establishing himself in the first team for both Chelsea and England.

The 18-year-old has featured for the senior England team on two occasions, but missed out on the last squad due to being involved with the under-21s instead.

But speaking to TalkSPORT, Bent says that it's time for the winger to be given a chance to showcase his undoubted talent.

He said: “He wasn’t getting enough game time in the Premier League, even though he was outstanding in the Europa [League] last season.

“If he’s fully fit, he’s got to be on that plane to the [European] Championships next summer because he’s got a large amount of time now to get back to full fitness.

“He’s one of these rare players in this country we’ve got who can go past people at speed.

"For me, once he's back fully fit, that is going to be a big, big boost to Chelsea Football Club and England as well.
