Former Somerset spin king Vic Marks talks to the Subs Bench about his Misadventures in Cricket

The latest edition of Subs Bench has landed.

The popular Made In Bristol show  has arrived on Bristol Live with Richard Latham and Nigel Turner interviewing a host of former sportsmen with stars from Bristol Rovers and Bristol City from across the generations sitting down with the pair as well as some of the top cricketers to have have graced the local game.

This week Richard Latham talks to Somerset cricket legend and former England international Vic Marks who talks through his fascinating life in the game and adventures as a journalist afterwards as the Guardian cricket correspondent and TMS broadcaster.

Marks discusses being part of a golden generation for Somerset starting back in 1974 as part of a team that included Viv Richards, Ian Botham and Peter Roebuck and how things turned sour.

Marks made his first-class debut for Somerset in the 1975 County Championship. Five years later he made his debut for the national team, in an ODI against the West Indies. His Test debut was in 1982 against Pakistan.

He went on to play six Test matches, and was an important member of the ODI squad during the 1980s, appearing 34 times and taking 44 wickets at a bowling average of 25.79.

Marks has a new book out called Original Spin: Misadventures in Cricket which you can buy here.
