Former SI gets rigorous imprisonment in bribery case in Andhra Pradesh

VISAKHAPATNAM: CBI special judge here on Wednesday sentenced Kondaveeti Mani Prasad, then sub-inspector in Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Guntur division to undergo three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a bribery case.

Court also imposed a fine of 20,000 on him. CBI had registered a case against the accused in a bribery case. It was alleged that Mani Prasad demanded an illegal gratification of 1 lakh from the complainant initially and later reduced it to 30,000 for not booking a case against him. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the bribe. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed against him. The trial court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
