Former Showtime at the Apollo host dies aged 74 after heart attack

  • Shepard was best known for co-hosting the syndicated variety show Showtime at the Apollo from 1987 to 2002, often alongside Steve Harvey.
  • Her career began as a professional dancer in the early 1970s, performing internationally with groups like the DC Repertory Dance Company.
  • She also had acting roles in television series such as Baywatch, A Different World, NYPD Blue, Everybody Hates Chris, and Grey's Anatomy, and appeared in Broadway productions.
