When the XFL kicks off their second inaugural campaign in February of 2020, Seattle Seahawks fans will notice plenty of familiar names in participation.
The XFL Seattle summer showcase boasted eight former Seahawks, along with plenty of well-known local football talent. Since then however, even more former Seahawks are coming out of the woodwork to get another shot at glory with the fledgling league.
The latest is former Seahawks receiver B.J. Daniels, who will participate in the XFL’s final summer showcase in Tampa Bay over the weekend.
Daniels was a quarterback at the University of South Florida, where he finished his career third all-time in total yards in Big East history.
He was drafted by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL draft, but was cut before the season began. He spent the next two seasons with the Seahawks, primarily on the practice squad.
Daniels finally appeared in six games for the Seahawks in the 2015 season. Having transitioned from quarterback to wide receiver, Daniels hauled in two receptions for 18 yards and returned one punt seven yards.
Daniels bounced around other professional leagues over the past few seasons, including a recent stint with the Salt Lake Stallions of the short-lived Alliance of American Football League.
Now, Daniels will join many other former Seahawks in trying to find his way back into professional football via the XFL.
