Former Seahawks QB Trevone Boykin charged with aggravated assault

Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Trevone Boykin has been indicted on a felony charge of aggravated assault for allegedly breaking his girlfriend’s jaw last year.

In addition to the aggravated assault charge, Boykin was also charged with witness tampering, according to a Tarrant County (Texas) District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman.

Boykin’s bond was set at $60,000.

The 25-year-old was originally arrested in March 2018 on an aggravated assault charge while he was still with the Seahawks. He was released immediately after and eventually handed a one-game suspension by the NFL, although he is unlikely to find his way back into professional football.

Boykin was originally signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent ahead of the 2016 season. He appeared in five games, completing 13-of-18 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown.

He was reportedly going to work out for the new XFL but did not appear at any of the summer tryouts.
