Former Seahawks punter Jon Ryan signs with CFL’s Roughriders

Former Seattle Seahawks punter Jon Ryan has found a new home. Well, actually he’s found a new football home, signing with his hometown team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

Born and raised in Regina, Ryan spent two years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before signing with the Packers in 2006. After two seasons in Green Bay, Ryan signed with Seattle, where he remained until his release last August.

Ryan logged 914 punts in 191 NFL games played over his career, averaging 44.7 yards per punt. He is the Seahawks all-time punt leader.

Seattle parted ways with Ryan before the start of last season after selecting rookie punter Michael Dickson in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft.

Ryan is part of the ownership group of the Portland Pickles, a summer baseball league for college players. He is married to standup comedian, Sarah Colonna, whom he met on Twitter.

The punter announced his signing with a simple tweet.
