Former Seahawks LB Winston Moss named head coach, GM of XFL’s Los Angeles team

Former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Winston Moss has been named the head coach and general manager for the new XFL franchise in Los Angeles.

Moss played in the NFL for 11 years, spending time with the Buccaneers, Raiders and Seahawks. He was with Seattle from 1995-1997, starting 46 games and recording 190 tackles, which ranks 38th in franchise history.

Moss also served as Seattle’s defensive quality control coach in 1998. After that he caught on with the Saints, with whom he coached for six seasons. He then moved on to Green Bay, where he was an assistant coach from 2006 until last season, when he was fired two days after head coach Mike McCarthy was let go.

Moss is the latest head coaching hire in the fledgling XFL, which announced in February that former Seahawks quarterback Jim Zorn is the head coach and general manager of the Seattle franchise.

The league also released its schedule, which will begin on Feb. 8, 2020 — one week after Super Bowl LIV.
