Former Seahawks LB Terence Garvin records first INT in AAF history

Playing for the Orlando Apollos, former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Terence Garvin recorded the first interception in the history of the Alliance of American Football on Saturday night.

The Apollos kicked off the inaugural AAF season with a 40-6 win over the Atlanta Legends. Of course, “kicked off” is just an expression in this case, as the AAF doesn’t have kickoffs as part of their rules, many which differ from the NFL’s.

Garvin, who picked off Atlanta quarterback Matt Simms, is one of many former players with Seahawks connections participating in the AAF. He played in 15 games for Seattle in 2017, recording 17 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defended.

He ended up catching on with the 49ers in 2018 but only played in one game before getting cut.

The new league does not have kickoffs or extra-point attempts. Additionally, the play clock is only 35 seconds long, and there are no TV timeouts in an effort to keep games under two-and-a-half hours.

The AAF will have games for the next nine weeks, many which will be available on national television.
