Former Seahawks LB Brock Coyle announces retirement

Former Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers linebacker Brock Coyle tweeted that he is retiring from the NFL because of a back injury.

Coyle, 28, had just been released by the 49ers after only appearing in one game last season, a Week 2 loss to the Vikings in which he suffered the injury.

He had his best NFL season in 2017 with San Francisco, appearing in all 16 games (10 starts) while recording 62 combined tackles, one forced fumble and half a sack.

Prior to that, Coyle was with the Seahawks from 2014-2016. He appeared in 35 games (starting five) and recorded 35 combined tackles and one sack.

Coyle came to Seattle as an undrafted free agent out of Montana. He was primarily a special teams player but made the most of his opportunities to start at linebacker, both for Seattle and San Francisco.
