Former Seahawks defensive lineman Malik McDowell to visit Cowboys

The Seattle Seahawks parted ways with defensive lineman Malik McDowell two years after selecting him with their first pick of the 2017 NFL draft. McDowell never took a single snap in an NFL game.

After a successful offseason and rookie camp debut, McDowell was injured in an ATV accident prior to the start of training camp and never returned to the field. Reports indicated McDowell suffered a severe concussion but the team was restricted from releasing any detailed information.

McDowell was waived last July but reverted back to the Seahawks’ non-football injury list when he went unclaimed. He was finally released this March and became an unrestricted free agent.

ESPN’s Todd Archer is reporting McDowell could be getting a second chance at a football career, scheduled to visit with the Cowboys on Tuesday.

Two years removed from the game and with his health a question mark, Dallas will likely insist on a thorough medical evaluation before moving forward with the defensive lineman.
