Former Seahawk Max Unger chosen for University of Oregon Hall of Fame

Former Seattle Seahawks center Max Unger will be inducted into the University of Oregon Hall of Fame this fall, the university announced.

Unger played at Oregon from 2005-2009, earning first-team All-America nods in 2007 and 2008. Originally a left tackle, Unger started at center his final two seasons in Eugene before he was drafted in the second round by the Seahawks in 2009.

Unger started 67 games in six seasons for the Seahawks, earning Pro Bowl nods in 2012 and 2013 while also earning All-Pro recognition in 2012. He was the starting center on Seattle’s Super Bowl-winning team in the 2013 season.

Unger was eventually traded to the Saints in exchange for tight end Jimmy Graham, and he played with them through 2018 before recently announcing his retirement.

Unger was elected in his first year of eligibility, now that his time with the Ducks ended 10 years ago. He will be inducted alongside Olympic medalist Galen Rupp, former football coach Mike Bellotti and javelinist Rachel Yurkovich, along with the 1989 softball team and the 2007 and 2008 men’s cross country teams.
