Gil Brandt tabs ex-Seahawk Marshawn Lynch as bubble candidate for Hall of Fame

Former Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch may have played his final NFL game after suffering a season-ending injury against Seattle during the 2018 season.

If that’s truly all she wrote for Beast Mode, he will be a candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2024 after he waits the required five years.

NFL.com writer Gil Brandt lists Lynch as a bubble candidate for the Hall, meaning he could go either way with regards to induction.

Brandt wrote about 12 running backs who are retired or nearing the end of their career, listing Frank Gore and Adrian Peterson as locks for the Hall and putting Lynch, LeSean McCoy and Jamaal Charles on the bubble.

Lynch was one of the most well-known players in the NFL during his heyday, thanks in part to his goofy antics off (and sometimes on) the field, as well as his iconic “Beast Quake” run against the Saints in the 2010 NFC wild-card round.

However, Lynch’s 10,333 career rushing yards are only 29th all-time, and his 4.3 yards per carry is good, but not elite.

If Lynch does make the Hall of Fame, it will be on the strength of his big playmaking ability — even though his overall body of work leaves him just short of the standard HOF running back.
