Former Scottish PR agency owner co-founds new London consultancy

A former managing director of a Scottish public relations consultancy has co-founded a new City of London communications business with an ex-London financial PR division head.

Louise Nicolson who built and ran Aberdeen-based Bread Public Relations has formed the new agency with former Portland financial PR division head Stefan Williams.

Nicolson, who sold Bread after running it for seven years, has also written a book on entrepreneurship, The Entrepreneurial Myth.

Nicolson was also at one time communications manager with Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce.

Williams Nicolson will be a boutique consultancy based in London aiming to provide a bespoke consultancy service for City businesses.

Williams only left Portland at the end of 2020 but already the business has built up a roster of six clients including recruitment group Robert Walters and legal services firm Ince Group.

He has been reported as saying the agency would address specific business needs such as adapting to cultural or regulatory change, closing major deals or expanding.

While marketing budgets have been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, many PR agencies have benefitted from higher demand for financial and crisis communications.

Williams told City A.M: “People want better quality advice when things are bad. It's a receptive market.”

The new agency has set up offices in Shoreditch.
