Former Scottish Power depot in Yoker to be given second life as flats

A former Scottish Power depot in Yoker has been given the go-ahead to be turned into flats.

Developers are looking to build 128 flats on land at Hawick Street at Dumbarton Road.

The former depot has now been demolished and is currently a vacant site.

As the site sits on a route connecting West Dunbartonshire, plans state that the development will create an opportunity to act as a clear 'gateway' at the boundary of Glasgow City.

The mixed tenure development will feature four blocks with 128 parking spaces.

Designs with application explain: "When considered as a whole, the development offers not only high-quality spaces for the residents but also contributes to the existing streetscape of Dumbarton Road.

"The qualities of the site's surroundings offer opportunities for development which ties in with the existing flatted development and residential housing.

"The north western part of the site has recently been developed as a food retail store."

Glasgow City Council have given permission for the development to go-ahead.
