A north Liverpool pub could be lost forever as plans to turn it into housing look set for approval.
Liverpool Council’s planning committee will meet next week to decide whether to approve a plan to turn the former Eagle Vaults pub on Scotland Road into a house of multiple occupation.
Proposals from Eagle Vaults Ltd would see the empty pub converted – but the plan does face opposition.

If approved, it would be the latest of a number of conversions of Liverpool pubs.
In just the past year, plans have been submitted to renovate and transform pubs in Anfield, Garston, Wavertree and on Rice Lane.
In a description of the Eagle Vaults site submitted to the council, officers said: “The development site is located at the corner Scotland Road and Penrhyan Street. It was formerly used as a Public House. At present, the ground floor former Public House is vacant and boarded up.
“The surrounding area is largely residential in nature, with a mix of two storey high dwelling houses and apartments within proximity to the site. Properties to the rear are rows of terraced residential dwellings. Across the site, beyond Scotland Road carriageway are 3 and 4 storeys high apartment blocks.
“The plot where the building sits on has a very small yard area at rear.”
Council planning officers are recommending that the plans be approved but deputy mayor and Everton ward councillor Jane Corbett has raised a number of objections.
Stating that a number of residents were also opposed to the plans, councillor Corbett referenced potential issues with a lack of space for future residents, noise and disturbance on Scotland Road and parking difficulties as reasons for her objection.
The council’s planning committee will meet on Tuesday to consider the plans.
