Former Scandal actor Columbus Short tests positive for cocaine and marijuana while on probation

Former Scandal actor, Columbus Short, has tested positive for cocaine and marijuana, which could result in a probation violation charge in an assault case.

A probation report received in court last week revealed the 33-year-old American actor, choreographer and singer had failed a recent drug test.

The Missouri-born actor is due to appear at a hearing on May 9.

The actor’s lawyer has said Short has already tackled his drug use and hopes he will stay on probation.

In September of last year, Short pleaded no contest to punching a man at a restaurant in Los Angeles in 2014. He was sentenced to three years of supervised probation, community service, and anger management counselling.

In an interview with Access Hollywood Live back in December of 2014, Short said substance abuse, including cocaine and alcohol, due to the stress of personal issues, led to him leaving the political thriller series Scandal.
