Former Saints, AAF pass rusher Jayrone Elliott to sign with Dolphins

For a brief moment, it looked like there was potential for a reunion between Jayrone Elliott and the New Orleans Saints. Elliott entered the NFL as a Green Bay Packers undrafted free agent before a brief stint with the Saints during the 2018 preseason. He looked good, making plays in those exhibition games as a pass rusher. But it wasn’t enough for the Saints to retain him and Elliott ended up playing in the AAF, leading the young league in sacks.

Then the AAF shuttered and Elliott was back on the street. Maybe he would return to the Saints, who need another pass rusher. But the Miami Dolphins nixed those plans by agreeing to terms with Elliott first.

Elliott was one of several former San Antonio Commanders to join the Dolphins. He’ll join teammates Kenneth Farrow (a running back) and Joey Mbu (a nose tackle). Miami is looking like a popular destination for former AAF players. Maybe the Saints will add a few of them while the market is still flush with talent.
