Former Roma icon makes Leeds United admission as Patrick Bamford paid huge compliment

Here is your Leeds United morning digest on Friday, March 19.

Fulham trio set to miss Leeds clash

Fulham are likely to be without Tom Cairney, Kevin McDonald and Marek Rodak for their clash with Leeds this evening.

The Whites travel to Craven Cottage, on the hunt for their first victory in March, but face a side battling for their lives in the Premier League.

However, the Cottagers are set to be without Cairney (knee), McDonald (kidney) and Rodak (finger) through injury problems.

Bamford paid huge compliment from Parker

Fulham boss Scott Parker has heaped praise on Leeds striker Patrick Bamford ahead of this evening's showdown.

Marcelo Bielsa on the pride he has for Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford

Bamford missed out on the England squad after Gareth Southgate announced his selection of players yesterday (Thursday), with Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins getting the nod ahead of the 27-year-old.

The ex-Chelsea man, who is expected to be fit for the clash at Craven Cottage despite limping off in last weekend's draw with Chelsea, has been the subject of praise by Parker.

The Cottagers manager pinpointed Bamford's "phenomenal" work-rate as he waxed lyrical about the Leeds striker.

“He's right up there,” Parker said. “Faced him last year. The amount of chances Leeds create he's always in that position.

“Tireless work rate and what he's asked to do out of possession at Leeds is phenomenal really.

“The work he puts in is pretty incredible. Added to that is his goal record and him scoring goals which has been very good this year.

“A step up for him, I know he's scored goals in the Championship for some time for different clubs, but now showing his quality in the big league.

“A big challenge for us and the defenders to try and keep him quiet.”

Cassano 'adores' Leeds

Former Real Madrid star Antonio Cassano has expressed his love for Marcelo Bielsa 's Leeds side.

The Whites have been paid plenty of compliments this season for their unique and fearless approach in the Premier League.

Now, former Italy and Los Blancos midfielder Cassano has been talking about the teams he still watches play football now - and name-checked Leeds.

“I watch a few games. Barcelona if they play Messi. Guardiola’s City because there is always something to learn,” he was quoted as saying by TuttoMercatoWeb.

“The Leeds of ‘Loco’ Bielsa because I adore them. In Serie A especially Atalanta. Gasperini is unique in Italy. He offers an excellent game with average players.”
