Former Rocket Michael Carter-Williams signs with Orlando Magic

The Magic have signed Michael Carter-Williams for the remainder of the season, the team announced on Thursday.

Isaiah Briscoe was waived, which means that Carter-Williams would be playoff eligible if Orlando makes the playoffs. The Magic are currently 39-40 and .5 games ahead of the Miami Heat for 8th place in the Eastern Conference.

Carter-Williams signed with the Rockets in July 2018 and hit the team’s NBA-record 26th 3-pointer in their game against the Washington Wizards in December 2018.

In January, Carter-Williams was traded, along with cash considerations, to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for a 2020 protected second-round pick and he was then immediately waived.
