PATNA: Former RJD MP Dr Rabindra Kumar Rana (75), who was convicted in the fodder scam, passed away on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS in New Delhi.
Commonly known as RK Rana in the state’s political circles, he was shifted to the AIIMS-Delhi from the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, on Tuesday night for better treatment on the recommendation of a team of doctors.
Rana, who was undergoing his sentences at the Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar near Ranchi, was admitted at the RIMS, Ranchi, a few days ago after his health deteriorated.
Considered as a close associate of the RJD boss Lalu Prasad, Rana represented Khagaria seat in the Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2009 as an RJD MP. Earlier, he was the MLA from Bihar’s Gopalpur seat.
Rana was convicted in at least five conspiracy-angle cases of fodder scam along with the RJD president Lalu Prasad and few other politicians of Bihar.
