Former Repsol boss to lead Ithaca Energy North Sea business

Veteran North Sea boss Bill Dunnett has been appointed as chief executive of growing UKCS player Ithaca Energy.

Dunnett takes over from Les Thomas, having left his previous job as CEO of Repsol Sinopec Resources UK in March.

Israeli-owned Ithaca Energy acquired US giant Chevron's North Sea business for £1.6 billion in November in 2016. Its assets include the Vorlich field in the Greater Stella Area and interests in the Alba and Captain fields.

Dunnett's 35 years' oil & gas experience includes spells at Mobil, Shell and Halliburton and was vice president at oilfield services firm Petrofac in Aberdeen before joining the then Talisman Sinopec firm as managing director in 2015.

He has served as chair of the MER UK Technology Leadership Board and on the board of OGUK and the Oil and Gas Technology Centre.
