It was a tale of two penalties as Arsenal drew 1-1 with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium yesterday (Sunday).
Arsenal opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted his 20th Premier League goal of the season after Nacho Monreal was adjudged to have been fouled by Brighton's Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
But Brighton equalised from the penalty spot, with Glenn Murray converting from 12 yards after Granit Xhaka was penalised for a challenge on Solly March in the second half.
The result was a big dent to Arsenal's top four hopes with the Gunners now left in fifth place, three points behind north London rivals Tottenham in the race for the top four.
However, former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has suggested that Arsenal were perhaps fortunate to even get a draw against Brighton.
That's because he said that in his opinion, Arsenal should not have been awarded a penalty by referee Anthony Taylor.
Speaking as part of his Ref Watch feature for Sky Sports , Gallagher said: "I didn't think it was, but the referee has got the best view.
"I didn't think the player made contact but if they have, it wasn't enough to take him down."
Surprisingly, Gallagher did not review the incident for Brighton's penalty, when Xhaka made a challenge on March.
