Former referee delivers his verdict on whether Tottenham's goal at Liverpool should have stood

Martin Atkinson has been backed by former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher over Tottenham's equalising goal against Liverpool at Anfield yesterday (Sunday).

Lucas Moura netted from close range in the game at Anfield applying the finish to Christian Eriksen's pass to level the game at 1-1 with 20 minutes to go.

But there were some question marks over whether the ball was moving as Tottenham striker Harry Kane took a quick free kick in the build up to the goal, leading to doubts over whether the goal should have stood.

However, former referee Gallagher said that, in his opinion, the correct decision was made.

"VAR cannot get involved in restart of play," the former Premier League referee said as part of Sky Sports' ref watch feature .

"What you would say is the closest person to it is the referee [Martin Atkinson], and you look at it and you just do not know if it has stopped.

Liverpool fans all noticed what Virgil van Dijk did after the injury-time winner against Spurs

"But Martin Atkinson has got the best view and I would support him in that."
