Former referee assesses big Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs decisions - and spots one error

It wouldn't be a weekend of Premier League action without several debatable decisions in Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs' contests.

Subsequently, Monday always means Sky Sports' Ref Watch as Dermot Gallagher runs through the big talking points over the weekend.

The starting point this time around has to be Son Heung-min against Chelsea, which Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the club will be appealing.

Son was shown a red card after a VAR review of his challenge on Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger. It left Mourinho fuming post-match but did the Tottenham boss have a point?

Gallagher has since looked at the incident and backed the decision made by the officials.

"For me, again, VAR has done a massive service to the game. He uses both boots and you can't do that. For me it's a red card. His boots (are) back and then suddenly, bang," Gallagher told Sky Sports.

"To lift your boots up like that when you're on the floor, you've got to do that with a certain amount of force because you have to throw your body up. VAR was absolutely correct."

Meanwhile, in Arsenal's 0-0 draw at Everton on Saturday, Bukayo Saka escaped a sending off when he raised his boot into the chest of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the second half. Gallagher has since explained that Saka should have landed a second yellow card.

Gallagher added: "The player is not aware that he's there, he boots his boot up and it's reckless. He runs the risk and I think if referee Kevin Friend had decided to pull out a second yellow card to send him off, he couldn't argue. The only thing in Saka's favour is he doesn't see the player coming."
