Former Redskins WR Jamison Crowder injured in Jets camp

The Washington Redskins lost wideout Jamison Crowder to free agency this year, though were comfortable doing so in large part due to his problems staying on the field.

Monday, it appears those problems popped up again for the now-New York Jets wide receiver, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini: “Slot receiver Jamison Crowder, a key piece in the Jets’ offense, was taken to the locker room with an apparent left ankle/foot issues. Crowder missed seven games last season with the Redskins, but that was his right ankle. Stay tuned.”

Crowder only appeared in nine games last year and missed time the year prior, too. There was always a chance a rebuilding team like the Jets would go out and offer more money than the Redskins were willing to commit based purely on the upside.

After all, Crowder still averages nearly 12 yards per catch on his career and has a seven-score season to his name.

But for the Redskins, this was likely part of the reason they were content to let Crowder walk. They have prospects like Cam Sims to utilize moving forward, as well as notable Dwayne Haskins collegiate target Terry McLaurin.
