Former Redskin Samaje Perine claimed by Cincinnati Bengals

The Washington Redskins cut running back Samaje Perine on Saturday, but he didn’t stay unemployed for long. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Perine was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday morning.

Perine was one of the more surprising cuts to come out of Washington on Saturday. Head coach Jay Gruden repeatedly sung his praises this offseason, saying that he was excited to implement the veteran back into his running game and utilize his talents. That all appeared to be a farce this weekend, as the team decided to let Perine walk, choosing to keep RB Byron Marshall instead.

Now Perine will go to Cincy, where they are playing under a new coach and Joe Mixon reigns supreme.
