Former Washington Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar posted a heartfelt thank you to the Redskins fans and team on Tuesday morning, just a day after he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks.
In the Instagram post, which featured a video of Dunbar’s highlights during his time with the Redskins, the CB stated that it hadn’t hit him just how much Washington meant to him until the trade became official.
He also extended a thank you to team owner Dan Snyder, as well as Jay Gruden and Bruce Allen for believing in him after he went undrafted as a wide receiver and helping to transition him to the cornerback position, where he has become one of the best in the NFL.
The loss of Dunbar hurts from a roster standpoint for the Redskins, as they now have a massive hole to fill in the secondary, but it’s not the end of the world. New head coach Ron Rivera has made it clear that he wants players who want to be there, and when Dunbar made his demand to be traded or released earlier this offseason if a contract extension wasn’t coming, it was an easy call for Rivera to make.
