Former Redskin Mark May recovers stolen Super Bowl rings via ‘Pawn Stars’

Some may look at the reality TV show “Pawn Stars” as meaningless entertainment, but former Washington Redskins lineman Mark May sees them as a helping hand on the case.

According to Sports Illustrated, two Super Bowl rings — from XVII and XXII — were stolen from May at a charity event in Arizona on April 29.

Authorities say that a man identified as Marcel Behnert tried to sell the two Super Bowl rings, which May won with the Redskins after the 1982 and 1987 seasons, at a pawn shop that was featured on “Pawn Stars.” Sports Illustrated writes:

May received a call in July from Pawn Stars’ sports memorabilia collector Diamond Don asking if the Super Bowl rings were for sale.

Gold & Silver Pawn in Las Vegas then called police and said that Behnert was the man who tried to sell the Super Bowl rings for $12,000, according to ABC 15.

Behnert now faces charges of theft and trafficking stolen property, and May has been reunited with his coveted rings.
