Former Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin announces his retirement at wife’s baby shower

Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jeremy Maclin announced his retirement on Sunday. Maclin played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and Ravens for a total of eight seasons.

There have been a lot of cool and amazing retirement announcements in recent years. But Maclin might have the most wholesome and sweet version I’ve seen. In announcing at his wife’s baby shower, Maclin got to officially stamp the next phase of his life and make the decision firmly about family.

Maclin had been known as a speedster wide receiver, able to take the top off defenses. Over his eight-year career, Maclin caught 514 passes for 6,835 yards and 59 touchdowns. In his last season on the field, with Baltimore, Maclin had an up-and-down season due to injuries. He caught only 40 passes for 440 yards and three touchdowns.

Maclin remained a free agent all of last season following the Ravens cutting him and make it through the first wave of free agency this year.
