Former Ravens RB Alex Collins suspended 3 games for arrest

Former Baltimore Ravens running back is nearing a comeback this season but will have to wait just a little longer. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Collins is being suspended three games by the league for his arrest on drug and gun charges.

Collins was arrested in March after crashing his car near the Ravens’ team facility in Owings Mills. Police found marijuana and a handgun in Collins’ wrecked car. He was initially arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana in excess of 10 grams and a handgun in the vehicle. Collins pleaded guilty to misdemeanor gun and drug charges earlier in October, earning a $200 fine and probation.

Collins is looking to make a comeback to the NFL after being released by the Ravens and suffering a broken leg in the offseason. Rapoport noted Collins should be medically cleared from his broken leg soon, and with several teams needing help at running back — including Baltimore’s AFC North rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers — Collins could find a new home soon.

Collins broke onto the scene in 2017 after initially starting on the Ravens’ practice squad. Injuries forced Collins to the 53-man roster, where he quickly cemented himself as the starter. Through two seasons, Collins played in 25 games and ran 326 times for 1,384 yards and 13 touchdowns.
