Former Rangers starlet and Kilmarnock schoolkid named in Chelsea's Champions League squad

Former Grange Academy pupil Billy Gilmour has been named in Chelsea's Champions League squad.

The former  Rangers  midfielder’s ascent continues just one week after making his debut for Frank Lampard’s side in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in the Premier League.

He was a part of the Kilmarnock school's popular SFA performance school, and he grew up in Ardrossan.

Chelsea  face Valencia, Lille and last season’s semi-finalists Ajax in Group H this season.

And Gilmour could now make his second breakthrough of the campaign with a  Champions League  bow.

Lampard rates the Scotland Under-21 international and has included him on his B list for Europe’s premier club tournament.

The B list is for players who have been eligible to play for a club for an uninterrupted period of two years since their 15th birthday. Or simply put, he is "locally trained".

He joins Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James, Jamie Cumming, Marc Guehi and George McEachran on the list.
