Former Rangers star's red card baffles John Hughes as Dunfermline boss fumes referee 'let himself down' with Accies penalty

Dunfermline manager John Hughes has lamented a penalty and red card given against his side against Hamilton - as referee David Munro 'guessed' on the call.

Former Rangers midfielder Graham Dorrans was sent off for handball in the second half after blocking a Lewis Smith shot on the line.

David Moyo stepped up to secure a 1-0 Hamilton win and it moves Accies into the Championship's sixth spot.

Dorrans had hit the bar for the Pars earlier in the match and the former Rangers star blocked a Mihai Popescu header on the line a minute before his alleged handball.

After his dismissal on the hour-mark, Dunfermline's grip on the game slipped, and Hughes says Munro took a guess on Hamilton's decisive moment.

He said: "To the lose the game the way we did was disappointing. The referee says it was handball and he has let himself down there. But we all make mistakes.

"I don't know what he was looking at. But I get the chance to look at it. For the referee to give something for that, he had to be guessing.

"He let himself down on that decision. For him to give that, and say it was handball, he is miles off it. For everything Hamilton did, and they probably deserved it, that's a disappointing way to lose it.

"We got into them in the second half although I felt Hamilton were the better team but even in the first half we had the better chances.

"For all their football I don’t think our goalkeeper had a save to make. We had one or two chances and one of them hit the underside of the bar."
