Former Rangers star recalls hilarious time furious woman stormed pitch

Gordon Dalziel isn't short of an anecdote or two after a football career spanning almost 40 years

But the former Rangers star turned radio pundit reckons the funniest of them all originates from his time in Ayrshire Junior Football.

Dalziel enjoyed two spells as Glenafton boss either side of managing Raith Rovers in the mid 2000s.

And a crazy clash against Irvine Meadow back in September 2007 lives long in the 57-year-old's memory.

Speaking on Clyde 1's Superscoreboard on Thursday night he recalled: "The Junior scene is brilliant for stories. You can write books about it.

"The best one I ever had, Irvine Meadow were a massive club at the time. We played them and I think we were level with them on points at the top of the league.

"I'm standing in the dugout and I turns round and sees this woman, an older woman, housecoat, slippers, walking by my goalkeeper.

"She's now at the 18 yard box and the referee blows the whistle.

"The referee goes running up and everybody is amazed. Somebody had parked in her driveway. I can't remember who it was - I think it was one of my players. The player had to get off the park get the keys and move the car.

"It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. She was not happy at all."
