Former Rangers star Kyle Hutton on working with Ibrox legend Ian Durrant ahead of Lowland season at East Kilbride

Kyle Hutton is set for his East Kilbride debut today and believes the wealth of experience in the dugout will stand them in good stead for their Lowland League title charge.

Ibrox legend Ian Durrant is assistant to Kilby boss Stevie Aitken at K-Park and Hutton has been reunited with the pair, having played under them at Dumbarton between 2017-2018.

Today they embark on a new journey in Scotland's fifth tier, kicking off at Forthbank against Stirling Uni, and Hutton believes the squad they have assembled can lead them to glory this season.

He said: "There's lot of quality there. When I first signed for Dumbarton Stevie was my manager there. He's organised and he knows the lower leagues well.

"Durranty has a wealth of experience and I worked with him at Rangers as well, so the two them bring loads of experience to this level, along with Tiff (Chris Aitken), having been at Stranraer.

"It's a good backroom staff we've got, so now it's down to us and how we perform on the day and how we perform over the season, and hopefully we can do that really well.

"We can't get complacent. I just believe the only ones who can beat us is ourselves."

The Rangers connection continues for Hutton in the Lowland League, with Barry Ferguson's Kelty Hearts standing in their way of the title.

And he added: "It's between us and Kelty Hearts, that's what everyone is saying to me.

"But we just need to focus on ourselves and get off to a right good start.

"The squad is looking good and it's really exciting."
