Former Rangers star is a 'target' for Motherwell

Former Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has emerged as a target for Motherwell, following his departure from Kilmarnock.

The 33-year-old impressed during a short-term deal at Kilmarnock last season but left following their relegation to the Championship.

That immediately alerted a number of clubs, including Motherwell according to the Scottish Sun, where boss Graham Alexander is a long-term admirer of the Northern Ireland internationalist.

Lafferty had indicated that he would consider staying at Rugby Park even if they lost their play-off against Dundee, but has failed to agree terms with boss Tommy Wright.

The striker hit 13 goals in as many games for Kilmarnock, and clearly still has the talent to stay in the top flight.

Alexander and Lafferty were team-mates at Burnley in the 2007-08 season, and the striker could link up with him again at Fir Park, having lost Christopher Long this summer.
