Former Rangers and Liverpool star Charlie Adam says he tested positive for coronavirus

Former Rangers star Charlie Adam says he tested positive for COVID-19 and was ruled out of action for ten days as a result.

The midfielder admits he's been left frustrated at the way his spell with English Championship club Reading ended after the virus caused him to miss their final three games of the season.

He will be available on a free transfer in the coming days when his contract at the club expires.

Adam, who also played for Liverpool, Stoke City, and won 26 Scotland caps, joined Reading on a one-year deal last summer.

He tweeted: "Very frustrating ending to the season for me, tested positive for Covid-19 which kept me out for ten days and three games despite two negative test results 24-hours after the positive.

"Want to say a big thanks to all the @readingfc fans for all their support this season."

Reading finished 14th in the EFL Championship table.
