Former Rangers star and Motherwell coach named Blue Brazil boss

League Two club Cowdenbeath have appointed former Rangers star and Motherwell coach Maurice Ross as their new manager.

The Blue Brazil have endured a tough start to the season and recently parted ways with Gary Bollan after finding themselves bottom of the division.

Ross was a coach at Motherwell under Stephen Robinson and left earlier this year shortly after Graham Alexander's arrival as Fir Park manager.

It's his first job back in Scottish football following a stint as assistant manager at Notts County, where he resigned from his role after an 'ill-judged comment' towards a Magpies player.

Ross featured for Rangers in his playing career and was capped 13 times by Scotland.

Cowdenbeath chairman Donald Findlay said: "I am delighted to confirm that I have appointed Maurice Ross as our new manager.

"Maurice is a highly regarded young coach and will bring a new approach to the club.

"His is determined to be successful as a coach and is very ambitious. He is determined to take our club with him in an upwards direction. I am convinced that this is the new start we need."
