Former Rangers defender Ross Perry returns from injury to inspire side to victory

Michael Kennedy admits he’s starting to feel more at home now his players are coming back from injury.

His Darvel side have been boosted by the return of Ross Perry, who faced Vale of Clyde, as well as another couple of faces coming back.

The former Rangers centre-back was injured in the final game of pre-season and hadn’t kicked a ball until Saturday.

And now Kennedy is hoping his side can push on and get a league and cup run together.

He said: “I always said we would be fine when people come back from injuries.

“My main brief this season is promotion, but I am hungry and used to winning so I want to try and do well in the Junior Cup too.”

Darvel put the League Two side to the sword thanks to a 2-0 win with goals from Graeme Muir and Darren Miller.

Kennedy said: "It was pretty comfortable to be fair, they didn't have many chances.

"It was tough conditions on a tight park and the very long grass."

Next up for the Championship leaders is a trip to Arthurlie on Saturday, but due to predicted bad weather in Barrhead, the Ayrshire side have requested that the game be switched to Recreation Park.
